The ultimate experience for cycling’s new Classic
Riders have been grinding gravel in Tuscany long before it became fashionable elsewhere. The region’s dusty backroads give an alternative view on this beautiful part of the world, and offer an enchanting glimpse into cycling’s golden age, when most bike races were run on unpaved roads and Fausto Coppi and Gino Bartali were Europe’s biggest sporting superstars.
This Strade Bianche bike tour gives you the opportunity to not only ride the legendary Gran Fondo on Sunday, but also witness the pros tackle this spectacular race on Saturday—one of cycling’s most thrilling modern Classics.
The famous white gravel roads of the Strade Bianche weave through the Tuscan countryside unnoticed by most travelers, but they’re treasured by those in the know. There are undulating swathes of ochre and olive in every direction, crumbling stone walls and cypress-lined narrow strips of powdery gravel, climbs that bake in the sun, exposed hilltops, and twisting descents through vineyards. This is gravel cycling in Tuscany at its finest—the best way to explore the heart of Chianti and experience Italy’s most iconic bike tour terrain.
We’ve called Chianti home for years, and this luxury cycling tour combines the very best gravel roads we know with some of our all-time favorite routes in Tuscany. From the Strade Bianche Gran Fondo course to hidden sectors only locals ride, you’ll experience the best of both worlds in one truly unforgettable week.
Travelling with a Non-Rider?
Borgolecchi is a destination in itself. Non-riding companions can enjoy a full programme of cultural experiences, relaxation, and Tuscan exploration while you’re on the bike.

STRADE BIANCHE GRAN FONDO
There are Gran Fondos, and then there’s Strade Bianche.
The white gravel roads of Tuscany that have made legends of professional racers become yours for a day. The sectors through medieval villages, the climbs that test your resolve, the roar of the crowd as you roll into Siena’s Piazza del Campo—these are the moments that define a cycling life. With inGamba, riding the Gran Fondo Strade Bianche isn’t an isolated challenge you navigate alone. It’s the centerpiece of a complete experience where your race entry is secured, your bike is dialed in, and pre-race meals and post-race recovery—massage, celebration, the kind of food and wine that turns suffering into stories—are all handled. You’re free to focus on the riding, while we take care of everything else. This is how Strade Bianche should be ridden.

Your Week In Classic Tuscany
TERRA CLASSICA - SHAKE DOWN
Benvenuti in Italia! This shake-out ride is the perfect introduction to riding in Tuscany, rolling along ridge tops, through small villages and past the ancient olive groves that blanket these fertile hillsides. This ride has a long, solid climb in the middle – which should shake out any cobwebs built up during your flight. This is also the ideal time to adjust anything on the bike that isn’t quite right, so if you need to make any changes, let your mechanic know right away.
MONTE SANTE MARIE
This route will test both your bike-handling skills and your climbing legs, as we tackle some of the best bits of the famous Strade Bianche race, including almost 35km of gravel roads. There are no long climbs in Tuscany to rival those up north, but the terrain here is always undulating and you’ll find plenty of steep pitches that can reach double figures in gradient and last for a couple of kilometers. It’s not all hard work though: We’ll roll through some spectacular towns and the whole course runs through breathtaking scenery.
CASTELNUOVO BERARDENGA
This is a relaxed route, inspired by the traditional coffee shop ride taken by inGamba’s founder, João Correia, when he was a pro racer, living and training in Tuscany. Expect gentle rolling hills and plenty of time for on-the-bike conversation or some horsing around by Raul as we make our way to Castelnuovo Berardenga. The famous battle of Monteaperti was fought here in 1260, and today the town is alive with a street market.
CRETE SENESI
Today’s ride will take you south toward the town of Montalcino where the rolling Tuscan clay-colored views of postcards will be in full effect. This is the Crete Senesi, a region known for its production of white truffles. The highlight of our ride is the ridge south of Arbia.
STRADE BIANCHE PRO RACE - RACE DAY
Today the pros will battle it out amongst themselves on the rough gravel roads that bisect these Tuscan hillsides. There will be flat tires, carnage, and only a few will be left with a chance to win after 176km. It can be dry and dusty, or rainy and cold, but whatever the weather, it’s always one of the season’s most exciting showdowns. We’ll spend the afternoon chasing the race in a few select locations, before a dash to Siena to see the fireworks on the final climb into the walled city.
THE STRADE BIANCHE GRANFONDO - GRAN FONDO DAY
Today will be our turn at the Strade Bianche course, hitting the dusty backroads and sampling just how tough it is for the pros. Our route will be a little shorter and have a little less climbing than the race, but it still promises to be an unforgettable experience. And with our fleet of Pinarello Grevil+ and famous inGamba mechanical service, we’ll be well prepared for whatever the road brings.
Departure - The Last Day
This is our final morning together and after a leisurely breakfast, it will be time to say goodbye, or at least arrivederci, until we meet again. Transfers to the airport will be arranged by our hard-working crew but if you’re planning on staying a few extra days, let us know if we can help with reservations or a few recommendations.
The Storyteller
You may hear sweet clarinet notes wafting toward your window at Borgolecchi, as our resident aristocrat practises his newfound love. We’re never quite sure if all of his stories are based in reality, but they are without doubt highly entertaining.
Giorgio is a supportive presence, encouraging you during challenging climbs and joining you in races if you’re up for it. His philosophy revolves around embracing life to the fullest and seizing every moment.
”"We're specifically trying to give our guests the closest experience of what it means to be in a pro team, at any speed."
A literal WorldTour service.
With years of experience in the professional peloton, our mechanics and soigneurs bring WorldTour-level care to every detail of your ride. Up to five mechanics work meticulously each day to ensure your Pinarello is perfectly tuned and adjusted for you alone—not just race-ready, but dialed to your precise preferences. Meanwhile, our soigneurs draw on their own experience as professional riders to anticipate your needs before you voice them: bottles filled and positioned exactly right, ride food prepared and timed to fuel you through the hardest climbs, post-ride massages that ease tired muscles, and the kind of quiet, confident support that prepares you mentally and physically for whatever the road brings next. This is the care that once belonged only to the pros. With inGamba, it’s yours.

Am I fast enough?
Don't worry, this is our most asked question...
Guests of inGamba are passionate cyclists who love the sport and the lifestyle that surrounds it. Most of our community are experienced riders of all ages and various abilities, who appreciate great roads, fine food, and unforgettable company.
While everyone enjoys a challenge, no one’s chasing a pro contract here. Instead, the focus is on sharing incredible rides at a comfortable pace, soaking in the scenery, and enjoying the journey. You’ll find more “middle of the pack” and “social” riders than hard chargers at the front, and with our exceptional staff-to-guest ratio, every rider is fully supported, no matter their speed or style.
