MEET THE GUIDES

EROS POLI

THE CHAMPION

The night before Eros Poli took victory atop Mont Ventoux he couldn’t sleep. It was not like he was dreaming of victory or even had the slightest idea the next day’s stage would change his life forever. It was just that it was hot. Unbearably, unsleepably hot in his less-than stellar French hotel. His roommate had taken his mattress off the bed and was sleeping on the small balcony outside their room. And the man who would shortly become known as Monsieur Ventoux was watching football, Italy vs. Brazil in the World Cup final, to be exact. Italy lost. The following morning as Eros dragged his weary, tired legs out of bed and down the stairs, as there was no lift, James Brown came into his head. “I feel good, I knew that I would now,” started to repeat over and over in his head. As it would the rest of the day. He felt good and the rest, as they say, is history.

DAY BY DAY BREAKDOWN

1

Combai

Sunday | 40km & 608m

Bëgnodüs to Alta Badia! There is no such thing as a flat road in this special part of the world, but our first day is a relatively easy one, with a big descent, a flat ride and a friendly climb so we test those legs – and to make sure that your bike is working perfectly. If it isn’t quite right, or you’d like to fine-tune something, now is the time to speak to your mechanic.

2

NEVEGAL VAL MOREL SAN BOLDO

Monday | 78km & 1,940m

We’ll embark on a thrilling journey from the majestic Nevegal slopes to the picturesque town of San Boldo, with Valmorel serving as our charming midpoint. The San Boldo road, aptly named the Strada dei Cento Giorni (100-day Road), was constructed in an astonishing three months. Prepare to be captivated by the exhilarating series of hairpin bends that await us as we descend this magnificent road.

3

SAN BOLDO — Praderadego

Tuesday | 55km & 1500m

As you admire the breathtaking landscape of the Prosecco Hills, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, we’ll embark on an exhilarating journey through the hairpin bends of the San Boldo pass. However, our true destination lies in the ascent to Praderadego. The name Praderadego is a compound word (prà de radego) that can be translated from Venetian as “meadow of disagreement.” This toponym suggests that it was a disputed location or a place where people gathered to settle disputes.
4

GRAPPA FROM ALANO DI PIAVE

Wednesday | 87km & 2,287m

Monte Grappa offers eleven distinct climbing routes. Some of these routes have hosted challenging stages during the Giro d’Italia, while others remain relatively unknown to the general public. These routes wind and twist along the mountain’s sides, presenting varying levels of difficulty. We will have the chance to climb the less crowded north side of Monte Grappa. This route begins in Alano di Piave, traverses Val delle Mure, and culminates in reaching the summit.

5

Altipiano di Asiago

Thursday | 115km & 2,231m
The Asiago, a vast plateau nestled in the Venetian Pre-Alps of northeast Italy, spans between the provinces of Vicenza and Trento. One of its unique features is that it was once a Cimbrian enclave within the Veneto region, independent of the surrounding areas where Cimbrian was not spoken. Today, remnants of this ancient culture persist.

In a more dramatic and poignant way, the territory is dotted with the remains and memorials of World War I. Numerous clashes and battles between the Italian and Austro-Hungarian armies took place here, leaving behind a haunting legacy.

6

Foza - Enego - Monte Grappa from Semonzo

Friday | 107km & 2,264m
Our journey takes us through some captivating towns, including Enego and Foza, with numerous switchbacks that make up the climb. And when you think it can’t get any better, the fun begins with Tornante 1 – the first of many hairpin turns. As we navigate through turn after turn, we can’t help but marvel at the stunning scenery across the ravine, where several small homes are perched precariously on unbelievable cliffs.
7

DEPARTURE

Saturday
This is our final morning together and after a leisurely breakfast, it will be time to say goodbye, or at least arrivederci, until we meet again. Transfers to the airport will be arranged by our hard-working crew but if you’re planning on staying a few extra days, let us know if we can help with reservations or a few recommendations.

The latest version of the DOGMA features an advanced fiber with remarkable tensile strength, which enables Pinarello to improve the bike’s lateral stiffness performance. With this enhancement, the New DOGMA F is engineered to tackle any road challenges, establishing itself as a reliable option for all kinds of rides.

In addition, it comes equipped with the new SRAM RED AXS, the lightest electronic groupset to date.
