Lead Guide
Fresh sardines grilled over an open flame, suquet de peixa—a rich seafood stew with saffron and fresh fish, salty anchovies from the coastal town of L’Escala, tender razor clams served with garlic aioli, seafood noodles straight from the harbor, and artisan bread baked fresh in the village’s stone oven.
Red wines from nearby Priorat vineyards, sparkling Cava from Penedès for every celebration, easy-drinking wines from Montsant, a splash of Ratafia liqueur with dessert, espresso from our La Marzocco machine, and an Estrella Damm beer at sunset.
Costa Brava. Ridden Properly.
Paragraph 01: Catalonia is where the world’s best cyclists come to train. The roads are quiet, the climbs are honest, and the light in the late afternoon does something to the landscape that’s difficult to explain until you’ve seen it yourself. Girona has been an open secret in professional cycling for years, but inGamba’s Catalonia trip was never really about the city.
It starts inland, at Camiral, where the cork oak forests of the Gavarres roll out in every direction and the riding is as varied as anywhere in Europe. It ends on the Costa Brava, at Hostal Empuries: a hotel built in 1907 for the archaeologists excavating the Greek and Roman ruins next door, now one of the most quietly distinguished places to stay on the Mediterranean coast. Between those two points: six days of roads that earn their reputation.
This is Catalonia at its best. Forest climbs, coastal headlands, medieval villages, the wide flat plain of the Emporda with the Tramuntana wind at your back or in your face depending on the day. The food is serious. The history is everywhere. And the riding, from the hills above Bruniola to the raw exposed roads of Cap de Creus, is as good as it gets.

Your Week In Catalonia
Bruniola - SHAKE DOWN
An easy opener -- by design. The roads around Bruniola are a quiet introduction to the Costa Brava interior: rolling, forested, unhurried. Enough climbing to earn dinner, not enough to remind you of your jet lag. Settle into Camiral, take stock of the week ahead.
El Angels
The legs wake up. The road to the Sanctuary of Els Angels climbs through cork oak and scrub before opening to views that stretch to the coast on a clear day. This is the day that sets the tone: measured effort, serious reward. Back to Camiral with something to talk about over dinner.
Tossa del Mar
The longest day, and the one you'll remember longest. The route winds down to the medieval walls of Tossa de Mar before continuing north along the coast, trading between quiet inland climbs and glimpses of the Mediterranean. You arrive at Empuries with the satisfaction of having crossed the landscape properly.
Sant Mori
A rest day in everything but name. The Emporda plain stretches out around Sant Mori in every direction: flat, wide, windswept in the best way. Short on elevation, long on rhythm. A chance to spin out tired legs and take in the quieter side of Catalonia before the final push north.
Begur
Begur sits high above a string of hidden coves, and you'll earn the view. The route rolls through the heart of the Baix Emporda, with enough climbing to keep it honest and enough coastline to keep it beautiful. One of the week's most satisfying days: varied roads, a proper effort, and the sea always somewhere in frame.
Porte de La Selva
The Cap de Creus peninsula marks the easternmost point of the Iberian peninsula, and the fitting end to the week. The road to Port de la Selva is raw and exposed: all granite and wind and big sky. Nothing between you and the horizon. It's the kind of finish that doesn't need embellishing.
Departure - The Last Day
This is our final morning together and after a leisurely breakfast, it will be time to say goodbye, or at least arrivederci, until we meet again. Transfers to the airport will be arranged by our hard-working crew but if you’re planning on staying a few extra days, let us know if we can help with reservations or a few recommendations.
A National Champion
Manuel Cardoso is no longer sitting on the front of the pack, pulling everyone along at what some would describe as a “brisk” pace and what others are unable to describe at all, because they’re too busy gasping for breath and holding onto the wheel in front of them for dear life. Manuel is now sitting just slightly off the back of the pack. As I look back, I realize he has that look on his face. The look that struck fear in the hearts of the Pro Peloton for many years. Part grin, part mischievous child, and all business. He is about to start some shenanigans.
Sure enough, just a few kilometers later, Manuel has picked one lucky contestant out of the pack and they are sitting in, waiting like predators for the perfect moment. For Manuel, just like when he raced pro, this is when the road turns slightly up. A spot where it gets tough for everyone. And he accelerates with his breakaway “partner” in tow. He ramps it up to a speed with which no one can latch on, and with such precision you have to question whether you actually want to try and close the gap he has created. And you can’t see it, but you just know he is grinning from ear to ear.
”"We're specifically trying to give our guests the closest experience of what it means to be in a pro team, at any speed."
A literal WorldTour service.
With years of experience in the professional peloton, our mechanics and soigneurs bring WorldTour-level care to every detail of your ride. Up to five mechanics work meticulously each day to ensure your Pinarello is perfectly tuned and adjusted for you alone—not just race-ready, but dialed to your precise preferences. Meanwhile, our soigneurs draw on their own experience as professional riders to anticipate your needs before you voice them: bottles filled and positioned exactly right, ride food prepared and timed to fuel you through the hardest climbs, post-ride massages that ease tired muscles, and the kind of quiet, confident support that prepares you mentally and physically for whatever the road brings next. This is the care that once belonged only to the pros. With inGamba, it’s yours.

Hostal Empuries
Hostal Empuries sits in the fishing village of L’Escala, directly above the Mediterranean, steps from the ancient Greco-Roman archaeological site that gave the hotel its name. The original building dates to 1907, first built to house the archaeologists excavating the ruins next door — and something of that spirit of quiet scholarship has stuck. The restaurant faces the sea. The kitchen focuses on eco-Mediterranean cuisine, drawing on the same coastline you’ve been riding through all day. After four days on the roads of the Emporda, there are worse places to be pointed at the horizon with a glass of something cold.

Am I fast enough?
Don't worry, this is our most asked question...
Guests of inGamba are passionate cyclists who love the sport and the lifestyle that surrounds it. Most of our community are experienced riders of all ages and various abilities, who appreciate great roads, fine food, and unforgettable company.
While everyone enjoys a challenge, no one’s chasing a pro contract here. Instead, the focus is on sharing incredible rides at a comfortable pace, soaking in the scenery, and enjoying the journey. You’ll find more “middle of the pack” and “social” riders than hard chargers at the front, and with our exceptional staff-to-guest ratio, every rider is fully supported, no matter their speed or style.
