MEET THE GUIDES

EROS POLI

THE CHAMPION

The night before Eros Poli took victory atop Mont Ventoux he couldn’t sleep. It was not like he was dreaming of victory or even had the slightest idea the next day’s stage would change his life forever. It was just that it was hot. Unbearably, unsleepably hot in his less-than stellar French hotel. His roommate had taken his mattress off the bed and was sleeping on the small balcony outside their room. And the man who would shortly become known as Monsieur Ventoux was watching football, Italy vs. Brazil in the World Cup final, to be exact. Italy lost. The following morning as Eros dragged his weary, tired legs out of bed and down the stairs, as there was no lift, James Brown came into his head. “I feel good, I knew that I would now,” started to repeat over and over in his head. As it would the rest of the day. He felt good and the rest, as they say, is history.

Paulo Crispim

Paulo began mountain biking at the early age of 16, and soon his love for bicycles, road cycling, and mechanics were there. Almost a decade later, he decided to take the risk and become a bicycle mechanic, but he never stopped participating in granfondos and amateur races. He joined inGamba as a mechanic in 2019 and now he is also one of our guides.

DAY BY DAY BREAKDOWN

1

ROLLE COLLINE DEL PROSECCO

Sunday | 30km & 480m

Our first ride is an easy spin to shake off the cobwebs, but it’s also very pretty, as we ride in the Prosecco hills. This is the time to make sure everything with your bike is perfect – if something’s not quite right, let a mechanic or a guide know and we’ll be sure to fix it before the tough riding begins.

2

PIANEZZE

Monday 72km & 1,632m

The day’s biggest climb comes just after the midway point, but it’s undulating throughout so you’ll need to manage the efforts carefully. The climb will take us to Pianezze, a very picturesque village in the Veneto region.

3

SAN BOLDO

Tuesday | 65km & 1,675m

The Passo San Boldo is one of the most visually striking mountain passes in northern Italy, connecting the town of Trichiana and Tovena with a stunning series of five tunnels, hairpin turns, and bridges. The impressive feat of engineering was achieved by the Austro-Hungarian army during WWI in just 100 days, mainly thanks to the forced efforts of prisoners and the local population.

4

SOAVE — VILLA CORDEVIGO

Wednesday | 59.8km & 684m

Today we start with a bus transfer to Soave. This Roman village, with its preserved medieval castle and vineyard-covered hills, is the perfect location for the beginning of the ride. We start with a climb to Santuario del Crossifico San Felipe, descend to the Illasi Valley, and climb back again to San Briccio. From there, we’ll pass on the outskirts of Verona and continue all the way to the stunning Villa Cordevigo.

5

VALPOLICELLA CLASSICA

Thursday | 65.7km & 1,512m

This ride will take you north toward the area of Valpolicella. The region is known as the ‘pearl of Verona’, with wine production hidden away in the region’s foothills, just north of the Adige River, and is a shining example of everything the country has to offer. Valpolicellians have been stomping grapes since the days of ancient Greece and the red wine only seems to get better with age — just like Eros.

6

MONTE BALDO

Friday | 97.9km & 2,223m

On our last ride, we start on flat roads until we start climbing Monte Baldo halfway to the end. Monte Baldo is the westernmost point of the Prealpi Venete, and is the peak that dominates Lake Garda. Known from the 16th century as ‘Europe’s Botanical Garden’, Monte Baldo has a rich and variegated flora, with olive and orange trees, mountain pine, oak, and palm, which combine to paint an incredible ‘floral’ composition, a rare spectacle in the mountains.

7

DEPARTURE

Saturday
This is our final morning together and after a leisurely breakfast, it will be time to say goodbye, or at least arrivederci, until we meet again. Transfers to the airport will be arranged by our hard-working crew but if you’re planning on staying a few extra days, let us know if we can help with reservations or a few recommendations.

The latest version of the DOGMA features an advanced fiber with remarkable tensile strength, which enables Pinarello to improve the bike’s lateral stiffness performance. With this enhancement, the New DOGMA F is engineered to tackle any road challenges, establishing itself as a reliable option for all kinds of rides.

In addition, it comes equipped with the new SRAM RED AXS, the lightest electronic groupset to date. The controls have been redesigned to offer smooth, comfortable ergonomics for a wide range of hand sizes. What makes this groupset stand out is the effortless braking, allowing for one-finger braking with minimal effort. The RED brakes now require 80% less effort when braking from the hoods and 33% less effort from the drops, delivering more power and reducing hand fatigue.
