ABOUT THIS TRIP

This trip takes you into the beating heart of the Dolomites, where we’ll take on some of the most revered climbs in the world, surrounded by the breathtaking beauty of a mountain range that has forged legends and shaped our sport.

And because you’re with inGamba, you’ll experience all of this with the kind of equipment and support that normally only professionals can enjoy, while enjoying some luxurious lodgings at two unique hotels: The Hotel Santer in Bressanone, and Hotel La Perla in Corvara. Both of these destinations epitomize the comfort, warmth, and style that has made this part of Italy so famous, while also offering unrivaled access to Italy’s great mountains.

You can look forward to roads steeped in history and some of the sport’s most legendary climbs, from the Passo Pordoi, where Fausto Coppi and Gino Bartali fought one of their most famous battles, to the Passo delle Erbe, where a young Marco Pantani first grabbed global attention with a stunning solo victory during the 1994 Giro d’Italia.

Giorgio Valvassori

The Storyteller

You may hear the sweet, sweet notes wafting towards your window at Borgolecchi, as our resident aristocrat practices his new found love of the clarinet. We’re never quite sure if all of his stories are based on reality, but they are without a doubt highly entertaining. Probably the greatest tale Giorgio is prone to tell you is that he’s not really a cyclist. This yarn is not to be believed.

Giorgio is a supportive presence, encouraging you during challenging climbs and even joining you in races if you’re up for it. His philosophy revolves around embracing life to the fullest and seizing every moment. In Giorgio’s words, “I’m sure other good companies around offer great trips. But we’re specifically trying to give our guests the closest experience of what it means to be in a pro team, at any speed.”

Rui Vinhas

Rui Vinhas

Born in the North of Portugal, Rui has been riding his bike since he was 10. In 2011, he became a professional cyclist and just five years later he won the Tour of Portugal. The following year, in 2017, he was the runner-up in the Portuguese Cycling Championship. His talent and incredible bike skills will be by your side during our trips.

DAY BY DAY BREAKDOWN

1

Sillan Austria

Sunday | 39km & 383m

Bëgnodüs to Alta Badia! There is no such thing as a flat road in this special part of the world, but our first day is a relatively easy one, with a big descent, a flat ride and a friendly climb so we test those legs – and to make sure that your bike is working perfectly. If it isn’t quite right, or you’d like to fine-tune something, now is the time to speak to your mechanic.

2

Passo Croce Comelico Lago Misurina

Monday | 92km & 1,839m

Today, we’re taking a scenic ride around Lake Misurina, the largest alpine lake in the Dolomites. Renowned for its breathtaking beauty, it stands as one of the most captivating high-altitude lakes in Italy.
Perched at an elevation of 1,754 meters above sea level within the majestic “Auronzo di Cadore” mountains, Misurina holds a prominent position as a popular tourist destination within the Dolomite region.
3

Le Tre Cime di Lavaredo

Tuesday | 56km & 1,332m

It’s time to relive the epic finale of Stage 19 in the 2023 Giro d’Italia. The climb of the Tre Cime di Lavaredo (or Drei Zinnen in German) marks the border between Italian-speaking Veneto and the predominantly German-speaking South Tyrol that was once a part of Austria until 1919. On paper, the climb seems doable – not too long, mostly not too steep, and not too high at the finish. But let’s see if it’s really that easy!
4

Falzarego e Valparola

Wednesday | 70km & 1,600m
The Falzarego and Valparola have witnessed countless moments of cycling glory. These two legendary routes are the stuff of dreams for any cyclist. The Falzarego, in particular, is renowned for its breathtaking beauty that never fails to leave riders in awe. As you pedal along the winding road, you’ll also pass through the site of tragic battles fought during World War I. And then comes the final stretch of the Valparola – a grueling climb that will test your limits with its heart-stopping incline of 12% to 15%. The view from the top is beyond words, with the majestic Dolomites mountain range stretching out before you, like a painting come to life.
5

PASSO GIAU

Thursday | 83km & 2,492m
The stunning cliff faces of Cinque Torri have stood as sentinels looking over the switchbacks that climb to the summit of Passo Giau for centuries. During the First World War the Italian and Austro-Hungarian soldiers battled each other and the elements for control of the strategically important mountains. These slopes have witnessed grand battles between Fausto Coppi and Gino Bartali, bore witness to the genius of Eddy Merckx and carried the late Marco Pantani to glory. It’s going to be magical!
6

SELLA RONDA

Friday | 52km & 1,684m
The Quatro Passi – Italian for Four Passes – of the Sella Ronda loop is one of the most popular rides in the Dolomites because it manages to cover four well-known climbs without being too difficult. We’ll tackle the Passo Campolongo, Passo Pordoi, Passo Sella, and finally the Passo Gardena, in a loop that is jam-packed with beautiful roads and wonderful scenery.
7

DEPARTURE

Saturday

Transfers to the airport will be arranged by our hard-working crew but if you’re planning on staying a few extra days, let us know if we can help with reservations or a few recommendations.
