Lead Guide:

Giorgio Valvassori

This trip takes you into the beating heart of the Dolomites, where we’ll take on some of the most revered climbs in the world, surrounded by the breathtaking beauty of a mountain range that has forged legends and shaped our sport.

And because you’re with inGamba, you’ll experience all of this with the kind of equipment and support that normally only professionals can enjoy, while enjoying some luxurious lodgings at two unique hotels: The Hotel My Arbor in Bressanone, and Hotel La Perla in Corvara. Both of these destinations epitomize the comfort, warmth, and style that has made this part of Italy so famous, while also offering unrivaled access to Italy’s great mountains.

You can look forward to roads steeped in history and some of the sport’s most legendary climbs, from the Passo Pordoi, where Fausto Coppi and Gino Bartali fought one of their most famous battles, to the Passo delle Erbe, where a young Marco Pantani first grabbed global attention with a stunning solo victory during the 1994 Giro d’Italia.

Giorgio Valvassori

The Storyteller

You may hear the sweet, sweet notes wafting towards your window at Borgolecchi, as our resident aristocrat practices his new found love of the clarinet. We’re never quite sure if all of his stories are based on reality, but they are without a doubt highly entertaining. Probably the greatest tale Giorgio is prone to tell you is that he’s not really a cyclist. This yarn is not to be believed.

Rui Vinhas

Rui Vinhas

Born in the North of Portugal, Rui has been riding his bike since he was 10. In 2011, he became a professional cyclist and just five years later he won the Tour of Portugal. The following year, in 2017, he was the runner-up in the Portuguese Cycling Championship. His talent and incredible bike skills will be by your side during our trips.

DAY BY DAY BREAKDOWN

1

BRESSANONE

Sunday | 25km & 610m

Bëgnodüs to Alta Badia! There is no such thing as a flat road in this special part of the world, but our first day is a relatively easy one, with a big descent, a flat ride and a friendly climb so we test those legs – and to make sure that your bike is working perfectly. If it isn’t quite right, or you’d like to fine-tune something, now is the time to speak to your mechanic.

2

SAN PIETRO — PASSO ERBE

Monday | 73km & 2,405m

This wonderful loop circles around the stunning Plose massif, starting out with a quick little descent before beginning the day’s one big climb. Lasting just over 18km in total, with a small break after 10km, it ascends in the direction of the stunning Sass de Putia peak before turning north and descending to Luson.

3

LUSON

Tuesday | 48.4km & 1,645m
Another chance to approach Putia from a different direction. This loop is not a long one, so aside from a climb near the start, the opening is flat, allowing us plenty of time to warm up for the main event. The day’s big climb last 15km and gains just over 1,500m, but with the full inGamba team around you it promises to be a fun challenge and you’ll be supported every step of the way!
4

MY ARBOR – CORVARA

Wednesday | 60km & 1,974m
The Passo delle Erbe is incredibly scenic and offers just the right mix of challenge and fun. It’s also a great climb for the racing cognoscenti, because this is where the legendary Marco Pantani won his first Giro d’Italia stage, obliterating the opposition with a dramatic long-range attack in woeful weather conditions. This is a point-to-point ride, bringing us from My Arbor Hotel to our new home in Corvara.
5

PASSO GIAU

Thursday | 83km & 2,492m
The stunning cliff faces of Cinque Torri have stood as sentinels looking over the switchbacks that climb to the summit of Passo Giau for centuries. During the First World War the Italian and Austro-Hungarian soldiers battled each other and the elements for control of the strategically important mountains. These slopes have witnessed grand battles between Fausto Coppi and Gino Bartali, bore witness to the genius of Eddy Merckx and carried the late Marco Pantani to glory. It’s going to be magical!
6

SELLA RONDA

Friday | 52km & 1,684m
The Quatro Passi – Italian for Four Passes – of the Sella Ronda loop is one of the most popular rides in the Dolomites because it manages to cover four well-known climbs without being too difficult. We’ll tackle the Passo Campolongo, Passo Pordoi, Passo Sella, and finally the Passo Gardena, in a loop that is jam-packed with beautiful roads and wonderful scenery.

DEPARTURE
