About This Trip

Where Coppi and Bartali Made History

This trip celebrates the high passes of the Dolomites and the Stelvio, two of the most storied climbs in cycling. Over six days, you’ll ride some of the sport’s most legendary roads, where Fausto Coppi and Gino Bartali once dueled, and where the Giro d’Italia has written some of its most dramatic chapters.

You’ll be based at two exceptional properties: Hotel La Perla in Corvara and Bagni Nuovi near Bormio. The week builds in intensity, from a gentle leg-opener out of Corvara through the Sella Ronda and the Giau, Falzarego, and Valparola passes, before tackling the Gavia and Lago di Cancano, and finally the queen stage, where we ride the Stelvio from both sides.

But this trip has a moment that sets it apart from any other cycling vacation on earth. On Day 4, you leave Hotel La Perla not by road, but by helicopter. As the rotors lift you above the Alta Badia and the Dolomites fall away beneath you, the scale of what you’ve been riding through comes into full view. Minutes later, you’re touching down at Passo del Tonale, ready to begin one of the week’s most demanding days in the saddle: the approach to the Passo di Gavia, one of the Giro’s most feared climbs.

It is, in every sense, the kind of thing that doesn’t happen on other trips.

And because you’re with inGamba, you’ll take on all of this with the support normally reserved for professionals: a Pinarello Dogma F with SRAM RED AXS, daily bike washes, a soigneur waiting at the finish of every ride, and a team dedicated to making sure you’re at your best every single day.

This is the Dolomites and the Stelvio at their finest. Come ready to climb.

SPECIAL TRANSFER

TAKE TO THE SKY

On the morning of Day 4, you don’t leave La Perla by road.

At 8:30am, a helicopter lifts you above the Alta Badia, and for a few extraordinary minutes the full scale of what you’ve been riding through reveals itself from above: the switchbacks, the passes, the peaks. It is a transfer that fewer than a handful of cycling trips in the world can offer, and one that only inGamba has built into a week like this. You touch down at Passo del Tonale ready to ride, having already experienced something most cyclists never will.

Day By Day

Your Week In Italy

Welcome to Corvara and the Alta Badia. After pickup from Innsbruck and lunch at La Perla, your first ride is a gentle loop up toward Pescol, easing the legs in after travel while our mechanics dial in your Pinarello to perfection. Short, scenic, and the ideal introduction to the landscape that will define your week. Aperitivo in the Murin bar, dinner at La Perla, and an early night. Tomorrow is a big one.

Lunch Dinner

The big one arrives early. Today's route links three of the Dolomites' most celebrated passes in a single outing: the Passo Giau, Passo Falzarego, and Passo Valparola, each with its own character and views that rank among the most dramatic anywhere in the Alps. Coffee at Rifugio Giau before the descent, lunch back at La Perla, and the afternoon is yours for a massage and recovery. At 83km and nearly 2,500m of climbing, this is the longest day of the week, so settle into the rhythm and let the mountains do the rest.

Breakfast Lunch Dinner

A Dolomites classic. The Sella Ronda links the Campolongo, Pordoi, Sella, and Gardena passes in a loop around the Sella massif, taking in roads steeped in cycling history, including the Passo Pordoi, where Coppi and Bartali once fought for the maglia rosa. A shorter day than yesterday, but no less iconic. Coffee at Passo Sella, lunch at La Perla, a massage in the afternoon, and dinner at Le Stue di Mikil to close out three nights in the Alta Badia.

Breakfast Lunch Dinner

The day begins before you've turned a pedal. At 8:30am, we lift off from La Perla by helicopter, crossing above the Alta Badia as the full scale of the Dolomites opens up beneath you. Minutes later, you're touching down at Passo del Tonale, ready for one of the week's most demanding days in the saddle. The route descends from Tonale and climbs to the Passo di Gavia, one of the Giro d'Italia's most feared ascents, with lunch waiting at the KOM at the top. From there, it's on to Bagni Nuovi near Bormio, your base for the final three nights. Aperitivo and dinner at the hotel, and the thermal pools are open whenever you need them.

Breakfast Lunch Dinner

A shorter day that may just be the most beautiful of the week. The climb to Lago di Cancano is compact but packed with switchbacks, and after passing through a narrow mountain tunnel the road opens onto a chain of turquoise alpine lakes, with the option to extend along the gravel track that circles the reservoir. Lunch back at Bagni Nuovi, a massage in the afternoon, and the evening is yours to explore Bormio or settle into the spa.

Breakfast Lunch Dinner

The queen stage. Today we take on the Passo Stelvio from both sides in a single ride, starting and finishing at Bagni Nuovi with a return via Prato. At 93km and over 3,300m of climbing, this is the biggest day of the trip by every measure, a true bucket-list ride up one of cycling's most legendary mountain passes, twice. Lunch at the summit. No massage today. Aperitivo in Bormio, and dinner at Agriturismo Rini to celebrate everything you've put in this week.

Breakfast Lunch Dinner

This is our final morning together and after a leisurely breakfast, it will be time to say goodbye, or at least arrivederci, until we meet again. Transfers to the airport will be arranged by our hard-working crew but if you’re planning on staying a few extra days, let us know if we can help with reservations or a few recommendations.

Meet Your Guide
Sancho da Cruz

Sancho had a late start to cycling, but he has been very passionate about bikes ever since. His love for the sport even made him change career paths to race professionally — until, oh, the pandemic. Covid saw him go back to school; he became one of our guides after interviewing João for his master’s final thesis on Active Tourism. Today, he is more than happy to share his passion for the sport with you, helping you on and off the bike, whether your goal is to go full gas or simply take it easy and make the most of the scenery.

"We're specifically trying to give our guests the closest experience of what it means to be in a pro team, at any speed."

The Pro Experience

A literal WorldTour service.

With years of experience in the professional peloton, our mechanics and soigneurs bring WorldTour-level care to every detail of your ride. Up to five mechanics work meticulously each day to ensure your Pinarello is perfectly tuned and adjusted for you alone—not just race-ready, but dialed to your precise preferences. Meanwhile, our soigneurs draw on their own experience as professional riders to anticipate your needs before you voice them: bottles filled and positioned exactly right, ride food prepared and timed to fuel you through the hardest climbs, post-ride massages that ease tired muscles, and the kind of quiet, confident support that prepares you mentally and physically for whatever the road brings next. This is the care that once belonged only to the pros. With inGamba, it’s yours.

Where You'll Stay

Hotel La Perla & Bagni Nuovi

Hotel La Perla, Corvara

In the heart of the Alta Badia, Hotel La Perla is a fifth-generation family-run icon that has welcomed cyclists and skiers for decades. Set against the dramatic backdrop of the Sella massif, this is a property that blends old-world Dolomite charm with genuine warmth, the kind of place where you’ll want to linger over dinner after a big day in the mountains. From here, you have direct access to the Sella Ronda and some of the region’s most legendary climbs, right from the front door.

Bagni Nuovi, Bormio

After crossing toward the Stelvio massif, you’ll settle into Bagni Nuovi, a historic thermal spa hotel set in the Valdidentro valley near Bormio. Built around natural hot springs that have drawn visitors for centuries, it’s the perfect base for tackling the Stelvio and Gavia, somewhere to recover in style, with thermal pools waiting for tired legs after the biggest days of the week.

Guests of inGamba are passionate cyclists who love the sport and the lifestyle that surrounds it. Most of our community are experienced riders of all ages and various abilities, who appreciate great roads, fine food, and unforgettable company.

While everyone enjoys a challenge, no one’s chasing a pro contract here. Instead, the focus is on sharing incredible rides at a comfortable pace, soaking in the scenery, and enjoying the journey. You’ll find more “middle of the pack” and “social” riders than hard chargers at the front, and with our exceptional staff-to-guest ratio, every rider is fully supported, no matter their speed or style.
