About This Trip

The Green Heart of Europe

Slovenia with inGamba is a compact masterclass in contrast, Alpine peaks, emerald rivers, and vineyard-lined ridges stitched together by quiet country lanes. Expect pro-level support from start to finish: expert guides, a follow car and on-road mechanic, daily bike wash and laundry, sports massage, and meals that celebrate small producers. Routes build naturally from a confidence-boosting shakeout in Bistrica to bigger, rolling days through protected landscapes and wine country, so you can focus on the rhythm of the ride while we handle every detail.

The highlights read like a greatest-hits reel with real historical texture. You’ll circle Lake Bled, a glacial jewel crowned by its storybook island church and ringed by limestone cliffs; explore tranquil lanes through Krajinski Park; and roll into Otočec Castle, a moated medieval fortress set on its own islet in the Krka River, proof that in Slovenia, the past is never far from the present. Along the way, Habsburg-era market towns, Roman traces, and modern, eco-minded hospitality frame the experience, balancing deep roots with a forward-looking food-and-wine culture that makes every evening as memorable as the miles.

We open the week at Sunrose 7, an adults-only heritage hideaway in Bohinjska Bistrica built around a digital-detox philosophy: riverside gardens, a private wellness centre, and gourmet dining just minutes from Lake Bohinj and the Julian Alps. Midweek we move to Hotel Grof in Vransko, a hotel purpose-built for cyclists, home to its own Cycling Centre of Excellence, before finishing at Otočec, where the castle-hotel’s parklands and restaurant sit on their own island in the Krka.

Day By Day

Your Week In Slovenia

Welcome to Slovenia! Our first ride is a gentle spin designed to shake off the cobwebs and ease everyone into the adventure ahead. The route is short and manageable, but don't let that fool you, it's a beautiful introduction to the region, winding through scenic countryside and offering a taste of the landscapes that make Slovenia so special. It's the perfect way to get the legs moving and soak in the views before the bigger days to come.

Lunch Dinner

Day two takes us on the Bled Loop, a ride that's as stunning as it is satisfying. This route is a proper introduction to Slovenia's dramatic scenery. We'll roll out past the iconic Lake Bled, where the water is impossibly blue and the famous island church looks like it's straight out of a fairy tale. The climbs will get your heart pumping, but the payoff is big: sweeping vistas, quiet roads, and a landscape that seems to have been designed with cyclists in mind.

Breakfast Lunch Dinner

Day three is where things get serious, in the best possible way. The Bistrica to Grof route is the longest and most challenging ride of the trip, but don't worry, you'll be too busy gawking at the scenery to notice your legs complaining. This route is packed with highlights: rolling through lush valleys, winding up into forested hills, and cruising past postcard-perfect villages that seem untouched by time. The climbs are real, but so are the rewards: panoramic views, quiet country roads, and plenty of chances to stop for a coffee and take it all in. By the time you roll into Grof, home to its own Cycling Centre of Excellence, you'll have earned every bite of dinner and every story you tell about conquering Slovenia's hills.

Breakfast Lunch Dinner

The Krajinski Park Loop is a ride through one of Slovenia's most unique and storied landscapes. This park is home to the famous Sečovlje Salt Flats, where salt has been harvested by hand for over 700 years, a tradition that's still alive today. As you spin along the flat, scenic paths, you'll pass shimmering salt pans, spot rare birds and brine shrimp, and take in views that stretch all the way to the Adriatic. The area is a hotspot for birdwatchers and nature lovers, with plenty of opportunities to see unique flora and fauna along the route.

Breakfast Lunch Dinner

The highlight at the end of the day is Otočec, home to one of the country's most unique castles. Otočec Castle sits on its own island in the Krka River and dates back to the 13th century, with a history full of noble families, strategic defenses, and even a bit of legend (it's said the river was redirected to create a moat for protection). After being nearly destroyed in World War II, the castle was lovingly restored and now operates as a luxury hotel, complete with a world-class restaurant and beautiful parklands. It's a fairy-tale ending to a day of memorable riding.

Breakfast Lunch Dinner

Our final ride is the Otočec Loop, a spin with just enough climbing to make sure you've earned that post-ride celebration. This loop is a greatest-hits tour of the region: quiet roads, rolling hills, and endless green countryside, all anchored by the fairytale setting of Otočec Castle. Expect a mix of riverside riding, vineyard views, and sleepy villages where time seems to slow down. It's the kind of route that lets you soak in everything that makes Slovenia special, scenery, serenity, and a little bit of sweat. There's no better way to cap off the trip: one last chance to chase the horizon, enjoy the camaraderie of the group, and roll back to Otočec with a full heart (and probably a healthy appetite).

Breakfast Lunch Dinner

This is our final morning together and after a leisurely breakfast, it will be time to say goodbye, or at least arrivederci, until we meet again. Transfers to the airport will be arranged by our hard-working crew but if you’re planning on staying a few extra days, let us know if we can help with reservations or a few recommendations.

Meet Your Guide
Giorgio Valvassori

The World Tour veteran

After an impressive pro career that started back in 2003, Sérgio Paulinho joined the inGamba team at the start of 2022 after his retirement. But we’ve known him for a long time, as not only did he race against our founder João Correia, but he was also a teammate of our star guide Manuel Cardoso back in the day. A two-time national champion in Portugal, Sérgio has also won stages at the Tour de France and Vuelta a España, and in 2004, he won a silver medal in the road race at the Athens Olympics. So it’s fair to say the man has pedigree! It isn’t the racing victories that impress us most about Sérgio though, it’s his personality, his friendly nature on and off the bike, and the fact that he’s always ready with a smile. That said, if you find yourself running out of gas on a big climb, it certainly helps to have someone like him beside you!

"We're specifically trying to give our guests the closest experience of what it means to be in a pro team, at any speed."

The Pro Experience

A literal WorldTour service.

With years of experience in the professional peloton, our mechanics and soigneurs bring WorldTour-level care to every detail of your ride. Up to five mechanics work meticulously each day to ensure your Pinarello is perfectly tuned and adjusted for you alone—not just race-ready, but dialed to your precise preferences. Meanwhile, our soigneurs draw on their own experience as professional riders to anticipate your needs before you voice them: bottles filled and positioned exactly right, ride food prepared and timed to fuel you through the hardest climbs, post-ride massages that ease tired muscles, and the kind of quiet, confident support that prepares you mentally and physically for whatever the road brings next. This is the care that once belonged only to the pros. With inGamba, it’s yours.

FAQs

Am I fast enough?

Don't worry, this is our most asked question...

Guests of inGamba are passionate cyclists who love the sport and the lifestyle that surrounds it. Most of our community are experienced riders of all ages and various abilities, who appreciate great roads, fine food, and unforgettable company.

While everyone enjoys a challenge, no one’s chasing a pro contract here. Instead, the focus is on sharing incredible rides at a comfortable pace, soaking in the scenery, and enjoying the journey. You’ll find more “middle of the pack” and “social” riders than hard chargers at the front, and with our exceptional staff-to-guest ratio, every rider is fully supported, no matter their speed or style.
