The wine. The food. The views. Your pace.
There are places you visit, and there are places that stay with you. Borgolecchi is the latter.
Our 600-year-old stone farmhouse sits in the village of Lecchi in Chianti. And as its name suggests, it is situated deep in the heart of the Chianti Classico wine region, surrounded by rolling hills stitched together with vineyards, olive groves, and cypress-lined gravel roads that have changed little over the centuries. For over a decade, this has been inGamba’s home in Tuscany.
This was the dream of João Correia, inGamba’s founder. Lecchi was home to João when he raced as a professional. He loved that Lecchi was in the heart of Tuscany—only a 30-minute drive from Siena—yet virtually isolated. It was a place where he could step back from the pressures of WorldTour racing. He quickly formed lasting friendships with the town’s residents—friendships he still maintains today—and the very first trip he designed, back in 2010, was based here.
But the bed-and-breakfast at the edge of town had been all but forgotten. His dream was to bring it back to life. As inGamba grew, Borgolecchi blossomed into what it is today: the wellspring of our many Chianti trips.
During the summer months, we open Borgolecchi to guests who want to experience this extraordinary region on their own terms. Come to ride. Come to explore the food and wine. Come to do absolutely nothing at all. There’s no itinerary, no schedule, no agenda—just a beautiful property in one of the most celebrated corners of Italy, exceptional food and wine each evening, and the freedom to fill your days however you choose.

The wine
You’re in the heart of Chianti Classico, one of the world’s great wine regions. Castello di Ama, one of the most respected producers in the zone, is practically next door, combining world-class wines with a remarkable contemporary art collection. Castello di Brolio, the birthplace of Chianti Classico itself, is a short drive south. The ancient abbey of Badia a Coltibuono produces exceptional wines and olive oil in a setting that hasn’t changed in a thousand years. We can arrange tastings and visits, or you can simply wander into any of the dozens of estates in the surrounding hills.

Food
Beyond Tomi’s cooking at Borgolecchi, the surrounding villages are full of trattorias, enotecas, and restaurants serving traditional Tuscan cuisine. This is a region where food is taken seriously but never pretentiously, where a plate of hand-rolled pici with wild boar ragu at a roadside restaurant can be one of the best meals of your life.
Culture and History
Siena’s Piazza del Campo and its stunning Cathedral of Santa Maria Assunta. The medieval fortress of Meleto Castle. The stone towers of San Gimignano. The art and architecture of Florence. This part of Tuscany is layered with centuries of history, and it’s all within easy reach.
Borgolecchi
Borgolecchi is for anyone who wants to experience Tuscany at their own pace, without the rush of a packed itinerary or the compromises of a group.
It’s for cyclists who want world-class riding with a proper home to come back to. It’s for couples where one rides and the other wants to spend the day exploring Chianti’s wine estates and villages. It’s for friends who want to base themselves somewhere special and let each day unfold on its own. And it’s for people who simply want to slow down, eat well, drink well, and soak in one of the most beautiful landscapes on earth.
You set the agenda. We take care of everything else.

The property sits at the crossroads of some of the most celebrated cycling terrain in Italy. Within minutes of rolling out from the front door, you’re on quiet roads that wind through the Chianti hills, climbing past medieval stone villages, dropping into valleys thick with vines, and linking together rides that range from gentle morning spins to full-day epics.
**The Strade Bianche.** The famous white roads of Tuscany are right on your doorstep. These are the same gravel sectors raced by the pros every March: undulating swathes of ochre and olive, crumbling stone walls, cypress trees lining narrow strips of powdery gravel. Ride them at your own pace, stopping to take in views that professionals flash past in a blur.
**The Chianti Classico Loop.** Link the three great medieval wine villages of Gaiole, Radda, and Castellina in Chianti, the historic “League of Chianti” from the Middle Ages. Quiet roads, rolling terrain, and vineyards in every direction.
**L’Eroica Routes.** Borgolecchi sits directly on the famous L’Eroica circuit, the legendary celebration of vintage cycling on Chianti’s dirt roads. The event starts from nearby Gaiole in Chianti, but you can ride the same strade any day of the year, from the gentle 46km route to the full 205km challenge, without the crowds.
**The Crete Senesi.** Head south and the landscape transforms into something almost lunar: pale clay hills, lone farmhouses, and vast open horizons. Some of the most photogenic cycling in all of Italy.
**Siena.** The magnificent medieval city is a short ride away. Ride into the Piazza del Campo, visit the Cathedral, grab an espresso. Then ride home through the neighboring hills.
We’ll provide you with our curated route library, built from over a decade of local knowledge, including GPX files, distance and elevation profiles, cafe stops, and insider tips. And while you do not get the full inGamba support on your rides, the team on the ground knows these roads intimately and can send you off on each day’s ride based on your fitness and your interest.
