Each year inGamba recognises guests who get ahead of the pack with a special edition, and one-off, jersey created only in limited numbers with our partner Q36.5.
Ever since I joined inGamba, one of the projects I have enjoyed most is designing the different jerseys for the upcoming year, along with Andrew Reed, who has designed many of inGamba’s most iconic jerseys. Together, we simply have a ton of fun playing different color options off against each other in an effort to come up with refreshing options while maintaining the classic inGamba lines we have come to love.
Ane ever since we put the finishing touches on the 2026 kits, I started thinking about 2027, and one color kept coming to mind—Maglia Rossa pink. It was actually Jon Moss, our COO, who first put the idea in my head, but what Jon did not know was just how much I love this color.
I’ll never forget the first time I saw it back in 1984, the year I was discovering the sport. It was in one of the many end-of-the-season yearbooks that came out in France, and in it I saw a picture of Francesco Moser on his way to the Giro d’Italia in the Maglia Rosa, the pink jersey. How cool is that, I remember thinking: the winner of one of the toughest races in one of the toughest sports is wearing pink. What a classy sport, I thought. And when I later learned that the jersey was inspired by the Italian sports daily Gazzetta dello Sport, which was also printed on pink paper, well, my love affair with the sport only deepened.
Needless to say, this distinctive tone of pink has become one of the iconic colors of cycling, especially when we consider the sport’s deep connection to Italy. inGamba also has deep connections to Italy, and honoring this color with a special jersey was a natural fit. It is here where our founder, João Correia, settled when he was racing as a pro, and it was here—in the heart of Tuscany—where inGamba was born. And our ties remain, as we host numerous trips each year out of Lecchi, as well as many of our ever-popular trips in the mountains of the north.
Andrew instantly understood what I was going for, and together we came up with the fundamental design. Our classic inGamba jersey is the clear starting point, as we replaced what is often red with this distinctive tone of pink. We also integrated a light gray to give it a distinctively vintage accent. And finally, we opted for black lettering—a first—to stand out better against the overall light palette of colors.
To say that I am proud of the way this year’s Breakaway jersey came out would be an understatement. I can’t wait to receive mine and wear it proudly, and I can only hope that those who sign up early to receive one will enjoy it as much as I do.
