Why Bike Tours Should Be On Everyone’s Bucket List
I (cycling journalist Molly Hurford) loved sharing my inGamba experience and what I learned from getting ready for the bike tour of a lifetime with the folks at Training Peaks! From injury in an ultra to getting back on the bike and having the time of my life in Tuscany, having a bike tour on my calendar was a godsend when I was feeling like my racing days were over. (Spoiler alert: They aren’t. But the inGamba trip reinvigorated my love of the ride!)
I also answered some commonly asked questions about what’s included on a bike tour, and how fit you need to be to keep up in the group!
Start Training for Your Next Trip!
All of the above tips are much easier to do when you’re following a simple training plan that lays out a weekly routine of rides, including longer rides and shorter, harder efforts, to keep you on track until your big trip. Following something like the inGamba 3-Month Tour Preparation Plan from longtime cycling coach Peter Glassford can be extremely beneficial for any cycling trip. While many base training plans assume you have 12+ hours per week to train, this tour-focused plan focuses on the most efficient training schedule and assumes that the people joining the trip are busy and have minimal time to train, especially during the week.
