We don’t want to wish our lives away, but it’s hard not to look forward to the end of our European season when we know it involves L’Eroica, one of Italy’s most unique cycling events.

Most of you will already be familiar with it: Riders from around the world flock to Chianti to test themselves, and their vintage machines, on Tuscany’s famous white gravel roads.

The Strade Bianche now also host a thrilling professional race each spring, but L’Eroica is all about remembering and paying homage to the cycling heroes of yesteryear, when almost all of the roads used in the Giro d’Italia and the Tour de France were unpaved, dusty tracks that snaked through the countryside.

We’re lucky enough to ride on smooth tarmac these days, with super-light bikes and 22-speed groupsets, but every once it a while it’s worthwhile going back to basics, to steel frames and downtube shifters and tough gear ratios, to get a sense of the passion and the dedication of those early legends who made this sport so great.

You can read more about L’Eroica from our blog and book your own spectacular retro experience with us here. And in the meantime, you can check out these awesome images from everyone’s favourite bike-riding, camera-wielding couple, our friends Ashley and Jered Gruber.

When we're riding, only the best is good enough. So we've applied that philosophy to everything that we do at inGamba. Our mechanics and soigneurs have Pro Tour experience and our clothing and equipment are the best that money can buy. Nothing we do or use is left to chance and we've left no stone unturned in our quest to create the most incredible experience possible. Because we know that even the smallest detail can make a big difference.
