Ted King NORCAL Randonnée

Thursday October 30th – Sunday November 2nd

Ted and João met in 2008 when they were both still racing as domestic pros—the two teammates soon became fast friends. A few years later they found themselves sharing the same kit once again as they cut their teeth as domestiques in the ruthless but glorious European Pro-Tour. Sharing hard miles has a way of solidifying bonds like nothing else can, so it’s no surprise that they remained close even after João left the pro ranks.

You may remember Ted as the guy who rode three stages of last year’s Tour de France with a separated shoulder in a bid to stay in the fight. He was ultimately plucked from the race after missing the time cut by seven seconds, but his heroic efforts stirred the collective consciousness of fans and fellow professionals alike. What they saw and learned was something that we already knew: Ted is one hell of a human being.

During this trip you’ll spend many a mile with him covering terrain that he considers some of the best in the world. From Stinson Beach to Calistoga and on up into the Napa Valley, you’ll pedal into and among vineyards that will provide the world-class reds for the evening’s table. After a day of ocean vistas, golden California light and mythical winding roads, every night is an opportunity to enjoy the best cuisine and lodging that California has to offer.

Our goal is to create moments you will never forget by sharing my favorite places, people and passions in a way that other touring companies simply can’t. Each inGamba destination is a place that João is deeply connected to; the Portugal of his youth, the Italian countryside where he lived and trained as a professional cyclist, and the immeasurable beauty of this – northern California where he currently resides. Because of his history and relationships in these places, he’s able to craft an experience that takes you beyond the guidebooks and into the heart of a place.

While we’re at it, we also make sure that you enjoy the kind of treatment traditionally reserved for world class professional cyclists like Ted; from daily massages to homemade ride food to top-of-the-line mechanics to build and tune your bike, you’ll want for nothing while you ride with us. Of course, we apply the same attention to detail to each day’s culinary events, because it wouldn’t be an inGamba trip if we weren’t counterbalancing all that spirited cycling with a little indulgence at the table.

Please email us to book or to receive a more detailed itinerary. As with all inGamba trips, you can expect to be cared for with the same personal attention reserved for world-class professional cyclists. For details about our soigneurs, mechanics and overall approach to creating the most carefully curated cycling experience available, please read about Our Mission.
